Tell us about yourself

Some know me from being in the real estate technology industry, and some know me as a mother. My name is Katie Lappe, and I developed a patent so the real estate industry could have Multilingual ADA-compliant software on real estate listings. My inspiration is my Autistic daughter Abby. Abby needs audio because reading is a challenge for her. I expanded the software so it was all-inclusive with captions and multilingual. So not only Abby but all people with language barriers, hearing, visual, and neurological diversity would have a chance at homeownership on equal grounds. My daughter is autistic, and ADA compliance software is important for the world, and it has to be done right… it's just not a plug-in from google. It has to be done right because ADA is the silent DEI, and breaking down barriers to homeownership is what we are all about.

What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?

Supporting Equal Housing by breaking down the barriers to homeownership with our patent Do AudioTours.

What's one of the hardest things that comes with being a business owner?

Patience. It takes time for the world to adopt even the best technology.

What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?

  1. Find a solution to a problem that is needed.

  2. Be smart and do your homework to be sure that you are not building a bridge someone else has already built.

  3. Work hard and be kind.
